Founder of VivLiv Books

Author of: Queen of Dominoes, Dalia Explores the Haitian Creole Alphabet, Luke Visits Jacmel & Luc Vizite Jakmèl


Justine is an author and educator. Justine is also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Justine was raised on the Caribbean island of Haiti where she experienced its rich culture firsthand. Justine enjoyed listening to multicultural stories from her family, including fascinating Haitian tales. Exposure to her family’s storytelling routines led Justine to begin writing her own stories at a very young age. Justine’s children’s books reflect her childhood memories and experiences while growing up in Haiti.
Justine’s dedication to promoting Caribbean and Haitian language and culture, as well as her drive to expand on Haitian children’s literature have inspired her to write children’s books.
During her free time, Justine enjoys writing, listening to music, going on nature walks, and spending time with her family.

Edwina K. Archer

Author of: Queen of Dominoes


Edwina K. Archer is a software developer and author from Brooklyn, NY. Edwina was raised and educated in Haiti until the 2010 earthquake, when she was in 5th grade. Her childhood there allowed her to truly embrace Haitian culture and values, which she still proudly carries with her in the United States to this day. Edwina graduated from Boston University in 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Health Science and is now working toward becoming an EMT volunteer.

The author of this book, Justine A. P. Louis, recalled memories of Edwina’s impeccable skills as a young domino player in Haiti. Therefore, the main character of Queen of Dominoes, Melody, was inspired by Edwina.

In her free time, Edwina enjoys exercise, meditation, and listening to music. She has created a wide variety of playlists, which include "Ayiti Cheri"  dedicated to her homeland, Haiti.

Alia Pierre-Louis

Author of: The Mermaid of Grand’Anse & La Sirène de La Grand’Anse


Alia Pierre-Louis is an educator and author who was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Haitian parents. Alia’s family is from Grand’Anse Jérémie. Alia grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and considers Haiti her homeland. Being the youngest of five children, Alia always had a vivid imagination and enjoyed reading and writing at a very young age. Alia is currently an elementary school teacher who is passionate about teaching and working with young children.

When she is not working, Alia enjoys spending time with her family, baking, exercising, traveling, interior decorating, listening to music, fashion and everything else artistic! The Mermaid of Grand’Anse is Alia’s first children’s book.

Samuel jeannite

Author of: Little Happies

Samuel is a licensed psychologist who currently lives in New York. He loves movies, music, comic books, and sci-fi novels. He also enjoy discussing the finer points in superhero lore.

Samuel always had a desire to create children’s books. He found even more inspiration while he was on paternity leave following the birth of his first child. At that moment, Samuel decided that it was now or never! He enjoys writing children’s books that are both fun and informative. Samuel also strives to create books that his children can learn from and recognize themselves in.

Regine A. Duvilaire

Author of: The Magical Kite

Regine A. Duvilaire is a rehab professional and author who was raised in the magical island of Haiti. Regine loved reading many different types of books as a young girl such as short stories, action/adventure novels and historical fiction. As a rehab professional, Regine is committed to providing people with the tools that they need in order for them to live their lives to their highest potential. 

In her spare time, Regine enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music and podcasts, trying out new cuisine and planning road trips. Regine is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with VivLiv Books on “The Magical Kite.”

Rodney Sanon

Illustrator


Rodney Sanon is a cartoonist and illustrator who was born in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and was educated there from kindergarten all the way up to sixth grade. As the youngest in his household to an older brother and three older cousins and having grown up in the middle of one of Haiti’s artistic and cultural centers, he discovered at a young age his passion for drawing and painting. Rodney went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in illustration and cartooning from The School of Visual Arts (NYC). He immediately started working with the New York City Department of Health, Education and the Training Unit of the Bureau of Tuberculosis, where he designed educational materials, posters, flyers, and more. Rodney has developed into an artist with a great range in graphic design, painting, portraiture, and logo design for a variety of clients. He has maintained his focus on acquiring expertise in cartooning and storytelling. His illustrations have been published in books like Queen of Dominoes, Mommy’s New Friend, Anaelle ak Lasiren, Luke Visits Jacmel, 12 Trials, Earth Ignored Your Cries, A Little About Me, and Grandma Efunlaye’s Brown Box of the Z-Girls series. Rodney is currently a teacher and a freelance artist based in New York. His portfolio consists of storyboards for major networks, music videos, commercials, films, character designs, logos, commissioned pieces, and illustrations in children’s books and comics.
